At the annual Summit currently taking place in Las Vegas Adobe has launched its Commerce as a fully Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based e-commerce platform designed to enhance performance, scalability, and reduce operational complexity.

This exciting new platform offers merchants new and powerful features including:

  • Instant Provisioning: Deploy new stores within minutes, accelerating time to market
  • Managed SaaS Updates: Automatic handling of patches and releases by Adobe, ensuring the platform remains up to date without manual intervention
  • Edge Delivery Services: Improves storefront load times by caching content closer to users, resulting in faster page loads and improved user experience
  • AI-Powered Content Creation: Using generative AI for personalised content creation, including automated product descriptions and dynamic promotions, enhancing customer engagement and conversion rate
  • Enterprise-Grade Scalability: Supports extensive catalogues with up to 250 million SKUs and 30,000 unique prices per SKU, accommodating the needs of large-scale businesses

This is a considerable change in the offering available and is clearly positioned to compete with SaaS ecommerce platform such as Shopify and BigCommerce.

Adobe is also set to introduce Adobe Commerce as a cloud service and Adobe Commerce Optimiser in June 2025, signalling a bold embrace of the composable commerce architecture with services like Edge Delivery, AEM assets, and App Builder.

Both solutions aim to empower businesses to increase traffic, boost conversion rates, and expand into new markets more efficiently, all while reducing the total cost of ownership and simplifying ongoing operations.
